(A no sew tutorial for the sweetest interchangeable girl’s purses-and-accessories).
Pi is an accessory girl. She always has been, since she was teeny! And when we were packing for our trip to Europe earlier this year, she had some serious hopes for taking the cutest outfits with alltheaccessories. Since we were taking a total of two suitcases for a month long trip for five people (including a baby, whose travel crib and other baby stuff basically commandeered one whole suitcase), our available accessory space was limited at best.
These purses with interchangeable snap on accessories were the perfect compromise- they gave my accessory girl all sorts of options (without taking up too much space in our suitcase!).
In fact, she’s continued using the purses even at home because of all of the coordinating goodness they offer!
To make these purses, I added snaps to the center of two neutral purses (the strong magnetic snaps). I made a couple of little slits with a razor blade for the prongs and then set the magnet in place.
Then I made a pile of accessories, also with magnetic snaps attached (be sure to use complimentary snap sides- all of the accessories with one snap side to fit into the snap you put on the purses).
-two bows (in fabric that matched two of Piper’s dresses)
-one scarf (also in coordinating fabric- this one didn’t have a snap, we just tied it onto the purse handle)
-a couple felt flowers
-a felt heart
-a giant pompom in Ravenclaw colors (I didn’t take nearly enough pictures of all of our Harry Potter touring, but the Ravenclaw pompom was positively worn out at the end of the trip!)
After looking through these pictures I have a few final thoughts- first- I wish I’d taken more pictures in Europe- haha!
Also, I need to make a bunch more purse accessories for Piper for Christmas, and I definitely need to remake a Ravenclaw-ish accessory for my Harry Potter loving girl.
Related- this would make SUCH a great gift if you have an accessory girl!
ps- Even though most of my pics are of the straw purse, she totally used the brown bucket purse as well. 😉 Picture proof:
